Azimio Politician Forced To Cut Speech Short After Crowd Heckled Him Infront Of Opposition Leaders

Charles Nguna, the Member of Parliament for Mwingi West, was confronted by an antagonistic mob during a prominent opposition event held at Kalonzo Musyoka’s residence in Tseikuru, Kitui County.

Senior opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of Wiper, and Rigathi Gachagua, the leader of the Deputy Citizens Power (DCP) party, were among those present at the Thursday meeting, which was intended to solidify plans for a new coalition to run against President William Ruto in 2027. But when some participants started jeering at Nguna, the unity message briefly fell apart.

Allegations that the MP had previously endorsed attempts to remove Gachagua, who just switched from the government to the opposition, were the cause of the commotion.

The event organizers had to step in after the heckling momentarily interrupted the proceedings. Kalonzo and Gachagua remained united in spite of the disruption, concentrating on revealing their plans for a wider political union.

Given the fervent devotion of his constituents to Kalonzo, Nguna, a Wiper-elected Member of Parliament, has been treading carefully in politics, and his seeming hesitancy has not gone ignored. The public demonstration of dissatisfaction acted as a warning to those leaders who were perceived to be at odds with the coalition’s changing course.

An important phase in the opposition’s plan to depose President Ruto was the Tseikuru meeting. In addition to making political statements, the leaders presented potential policy options, such as doing away with unpopular tax policies like the Housing Levy.
