Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has strongly criticized Western Kenya leaders for failing to stand in solidarity with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya following his recent arrest by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Speaking during a church service at Kitale Pentecostal Church on Sunday, May 25, 2025 MP Amisi expressed disappointment in what he termed as silence and indifference from Western region leaders. This comes just a week after Governor Natembeya was arrested and arraigned in court over alleged corruption in his office.

Amisi accused a section of leaders from the region of abandoning Natembeya at his hour of need, despite his efforts to champion the interests of the region. He emphasized that leaders should unite and support each other, especially when they are under political attack.

“Natembeya is being arrested for criticizing the Ruto government and not because of corruption as is being alleged. As leaders from Western, we won’t allow this form of political persecution to continue unchecked,” Amisi said.

The outspoken legislator defended Governor Natembeya, stating that the charges brought against him are politically motivated due to his bold stand against the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He urged leaders from the Western region to rally behind Governor Natembeya, just as he had done during the governor’s arrest, and called for unity in defending voices critical of the government.
