Panic as MPs, MCAs Face Ouster Over Ties to Gachagua’s DCP Party

Members of Parliament and County Assembly linked to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s DCP Party are in a state of panic after discovering a suspected plot by the UDA against them.
The swift expulsion of Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba and the subsequent declaration of her seat as vacant through a gazette notice has triggered panic among lawmakers allied to Gachagua.
According to the Nation, President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Executive Committee (NEC) has directed party officials to keep a close watch and record public remarks made by members viewed as “rebels.”
This action is regarded as a potential step toward disciplinary action, this is according to reports by Nation.
Senator Gloria Orwoba was expelled from UDA on grounds of gross misconduct and breaching the party’s constitution and code of conduct by attending former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i’s homecoming event and criticizing President Ruto’s labour mobility initiative.
The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) spoken out in support of Orwoba after her removal from the UDA.
Led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, DCP condemned Senate Speaker Amason Kingi for hastily declaring Orwoba’s seat vacant despite a court order being in effect, calling it a worrying sign of shrinking democratic freedoms under President Ruto’s administration.
DCP labeled the expulsion as an outright example of political intolerance.
