Natembeya’s Lawyer Ndegwa Speaks, Outlines Strict Bail Terms Imposed Before Governor’s Release

Governor George Natembeya has been released on a Sh1 million bond or an alternative cash bail of Sh500,000.

The ruling was delivered amidst heightened public interest and political tension surrounding the high-profile case.

Natembeya’s legal counsel, Advocate Ndegwa Njiru, confirmed that the court imposed strict conditions for his client’s temporary freedom—he is barred from accessing his county office for 60 days and must not leave Kenya without express permission from the court.

Speaking outside the courtroom, Njiru reminded the public of a deeper truth behind the case: “But verily verily I tell you, TRUE PEACE IS NOT MERELY THE ABSENCE OF TENSION; IT’S THE PRESENCE OF JUSTICE.”

His words struck a chord with many Kenyans online, sparking a flurry of reactions across social media platforms.

While some celebrated the court’s decision as a step toward accountability, others saw the bail terms as politically motivated and designed to cripple Natembeya’s administrative duties.

Legal experts and political observers alike noted the implications of the restrictions, particularly the temporary ban from his county office, which could affect service delivery in Trans Nzoia.

Still, Njiru’s firm stance underscores a broader national conversation on justice, governance, and the role of courts in balancing public interest with constitutional freedoms.

As the legal process continues, all eyes remain on both the judiciary’s impartiality and the resilience of Governor Natembeya’s political future.
