On Tuesday, Ugenya Member of Parliament David Ochieng strongly criticized Siaya Governor James Orengo, saying that he is doing nothing in the office to help the people.
“Governor Orengo is sitting in office and doing nothing for the people of Siaya. This is not leadership,” said MP Ochieng.
In his statement, MP Ochieng said the governor is embarrassing the people of Siaya by not building roads, schools, or even hospitals. He said the county has been left behind while other places are developing.
“It is a shame that our county lacks good roads, proper schools, and working hospitals. What is the governor doing?” he questioned.
MP Ochieng also said that he will not allow this situation to continue, threatening to sue Orengo in court. He explained that even though he is just an MP, he has been forced to do some of the governor’s duties.
“I am an MP, but I have built roads and classrooms because I don’t like shame. Our people deserve better,” he said.
He also revealed that whenever President William Ruto visits Siaya, he often asks what is going on because residents are always complaining.
“The president asks me, ‘What is wrong in Siaya?’ because the people are crying. We must fix this,” Ochieng said.
