Days after unveiling his DCP party, former Deputy Rigathi Gachagua has scored big after a section of UDA coordinators from Uasin Gishu dumped President William Ruto’s UDA party and joined DCP.
Speaking on Tuesday after officially welcoming Gachagua’s DCP party in Uasin Gishu, the former UDA coordinators announced that they had officially left the UDA party for the new Democracy For The Citizen party(DCP) under H.E Rigathi Gachagua EGH.
They blamed the nominated MP in Uasin Gishu, Michael Wambugu Wainaina of sabotage, claiming he is the big reason behind their departure from UDA. They claimed the MP was an enemy of the youth and that he even revoked the appointments of two youths from Uasin Gishu to the government when Ruto won the 2022 elections.
They also accused Ruto and UDA party, saying they had failed in implementing their manifestos on what they promised the people of Uasin Gishu
They, however, maintained that they have no problem with the Kalenjin community and President Ruto, and that they will continue living peacefully in Uasin Gishu despite the political differences.
“We have no problem with the Kalenjin community, we also have no problem with President Ruto, but we are saying we have moved out of UDA because of Mzee Wainaina and the UDA party’s manifesto. We signed a business charter with Ruto in 2022 but after he won elections, Eldoret’s CBD market was closed, businesspeople were mistreated and others forced to relocate to Kitale and Kakamega. Ruto said he will nominate youths in government but we were given only two slots that were later revoked by nominated MP Wainaina,” stated one of the new DCP party delegates
They also accused Ruto, saying he failed them after he gave out a nomination slot of an MP to an old man instead of giving out to youths who can mobilize the ground in Uasin Gishu.
“Hiyo kiketi ingepeanwa kwa kijana barobaro ambae angezunguka hii Uasin Gishu kuunganisha jamii lakini wewe rais ukafanya makosa kupeana kwa mzee was miaka 65 hawezi kimbia an kufanya mobilization,” added another youth.
