Residents of Soy constituency in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county, have taken to the streets demonstrating against alleged threats to the life of their MP, David Kiplagat.
This was after the MP cried foul, saying his life is in danger and is being trailed by unknown people.
According to reports, life-threatening leaflets were thrown at the MP’s doorstep, warning him against ‘making too much noise’ against some individuals.
The leaflets warned the MP to keep off or they, (unknown individuals) will make sure that he is silenced forever.
“Attention, you are making too much noise, keep it up and we will make sure you will not speak again. This is not a debate, it is your final notice,” the life-threatening leaflet dropped at his compound read.
Angry residents from his Soy constituency took to the streets on Tuesday to demonstrate, blocking the Eldoret, Ziwa road for more than six hours.
“We cannot allow Soy MP to be killed. We want him to be given security, and if he cannot be given, we are ready to sleep here and offer him security,” stated Philemon Leting, a resident of Soy.
“We woke up to sad news here with somebody spreading leaflets threatening the life of our MP. We ask CS Murkomen to give our MP enough security. We want to say No to this,” another resident said
The MP has been at loggerheads with Uasin Gishu county government leadership after the soft-spoken MP accused the governor of doing little to help residents of Uasin Gishu when it comes to developments.
