Moses Kuria Blames Rigathi Gachagua for Misleading Mt. Kenya Politics and Disrespecting His Party

Government economic advisor Moses Kuria has strongly criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of misleading the Mt. Kenya region and disrespecting political parties.

Kuria reminded Gachagua that he formed his own party, Chama Cha Kazi (CCK), in August 2021.

He said the party has elected Members of County Assembly (MCAs) in counties such as Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyandarua, and Embu.

In 2022, Kuria said he asked Gachagua to join him in forming a coalition with President William Ruto, alongside other leaders like Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, Alfred Mutua, and Amason Kingi.

However, Gachagua refused and even mocked Kuria’s party on live television, calling it a “briefcase party” a term used for small or insignificant parties.

Kuria said Gachagua told him to fully trust William Ruto and drop his own party. But when Kuria refused, Gachagua campaigned against him and other CCK candidates.

Kuria believes this act hurt their political strength in the region.

Now that Gachagua has fallen out with President Ruto, Kuria says the former Deputy President has realized his mistake that going into an election without a strong regional party was wrong.

Kuria accused Gachagua of trying again to destroy political parties that have been built over the years.

In a strong warning, Kuria said Gachagua is misleading the Mt. Kenya region once again.

He told Gachagua not to try to destroy CCK, calling it a party that has been carefully built over four years. Kuria said he will not allow Gachagua to ruin their political work without a fight.
