Sources Reveal Rigathi Gachagua’s Next Move After Ditching President William Ruto’s UDA Party

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua officially cut ties with president William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

In a bold move, Gachagua submitted a resignation letter to UDA Secretary General on May 12, declaring his immediate departure from the ruling party.

The letter, which is laced with sharp criticism of the UDA leadership and its direction, lays bare his disillusionment with what he described as a betrayal of the party’s founding principles.

Sources have now revealed that he plans to unveil a new political party within the week, promising an inclusive platform that will field candidates for all elective seats in the next election.

“This party will bring together leaders from across the country, and it will offer Kenyans an alternative. I am ready to lead, if the opposition sees me as the best candidate to challenge Ruto in 2027,” he declared

Citing what he termed as missed opportunities and empty promises, Gachagua has accused the Ruto led administration of abandoning the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which was once the cornerstone of their campaign.

Gachagua claimed that farmers have been neglected and that land grabbing has worsened.

“We promised food sufficiency and job creation through agricultural reform, but now we see no fertilizer for farmers, and agricultural land is being grabbed by the powerful,” he noted.

All eyes are now on the next move as the former deputy president retreats to finalise the making of his new party.
