A top party insiders allegedly push for the removal of Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo in a move that has stunned many in his Nyanza backyard and within government circles.
Key figures in ODM are accusing Dr Omollo of abandoning the party’s ideals and aligning himself too closely with President William Ruto’s administration.
Sources claim that his growing influence in state security matters and recent appearances at government-led functions have not sat well with ODM loyalists, who feel betrayed by one of their own.
“He is dancing to Ruto’s tune and ignoring the people who stood by him,” a senior ODM official disclosed during a closed-door meeting in Kisumu.
The same official revealed that talks are underway to formally petition his removal, citing disloyalty and political conflict of interest.
Dr Omollo, a technocrat turned politician, was once seen as ODM’s key asset within the Kenya Kwanza government.
However, his close ties with Interior CS Murkomen and support for state-led initiatives have made him a target within opposition circles.
The party reportedly views his role as Interior PS as an opportunity wasted—one that should have benefited ODM’s grassroots influence.
The plan, still in early stages, could trigger a political face-off between the opposition and the ruling coalition. Analysts warn that removing Dr Omollo could deepen divisions in Nyanza and dent ODM’s unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
As ODM tightens its grip and weighs its next move, all eyes now turn to whether Dr Omollo will fight back—or be quietly pushed out of power.
