Deputy President of the republic of Kenya Hon Prof Kithure Kindiki has attracted public attention after claiming that he is a “Yes” DP, to his boss and the Head of State His Excellency President William Ruto, who appointed him to serve as the country’s second in command after the unceremonious ouster of Rigathi Gachagua from office.
Speaking during a public event in Siakago, on Saturday 10, May 2025, Prof Kindiki reiterated that his job as the deputy president of Kenya, is to say “yes” to his boss’s remarks, arguing that saying “No” to his (Ruto) demands would be like being a member of the opposition in government.Â
Kindiki also reiterated that he always says Yes to all President William Ruto’s demands, out of the unwavering loyalty he has for his Kenya Kwanza administration and because the job description of the Deputy President, is to bow to the President’s wishes. Specifically, he noted that if saying Yes to the President’s demand was not part of his job description, he would have left the office long time ago.
Weeks after the former Deputy President of the republic of Kenya Hon Rigathi Gachagua was ousted from office, he opined that President William Ruto settled for Kithure Kindiki as his assistant, because he knew that the former Interior Cabinet Secretary, would not hold his administration accountable for its mistakes, but would rather agree to everything he says or does by saying Yes.
