At least six people are in police custody at this moment.

He was seen donning a white checkered jacket, a brown marvin hat, a blue pair of jeans trousers and brown boots.

The man had with him a black sling bag, believed to have been carrying the articles used in the MP’s murder.

City surveillance cameras spotted him being dropped near Parliament Buildings on the fateful evening, just moments before the MP’s murder.

CCTV footage published by TV47 indicated that the suspect was dropped outside the precincts of parliament, perhaps to monitor Were as he prepared to leave after the day’s business.

He was reportedly seen being dropped by a white Toyota Mark Grande before later using a motorcycle to trail the MP; he was leaning on a pole in front of the Equity Bank opposite parliament.

Shortly after the suspect was dropped, the MP left parliament onboard a saloon car, a Toyota Crown.

From then on, the suspect was in tow.

The lawmaker’s first stop was at Wabera Street, where his bodyguard alighted and entered an M-Pesa outlet for a transaction.

Emoli was spotted passing by the M-Pesa shop.

The bodyguard returned to the Toyota Crown carrying the MP moments later and they continued with their journey.

Were’s car was to exit the city, toward Ngong Road through Valley Road.

It was slowed down by traffic; the motorbike carrying the suspect was also consistent with the MP’s car not to lose the trail.

On reaching near the spot where the shooting happened, the was only one vehicle between Were’s Toyota Crown and the motorcycle.

The vehicle proceeded to the City Mortuary Roundabout and stopped at the indication of the red light as a police officer manned the traffic on the other end.

It was at that moment at the traffic light that the suspect dismounted and charged toward Were’s car, where he fired several shots, shattering the car window before getting to the lawmaker.

He thereafter quickly boarded the motorbike and took off, headed to the city centre.

Another footage would later show the suspect boarding the Toyota Mark Grande that he had been dropped off outside parliament with.

In its update on Wednesday, May 7, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported recovering several items, including guns and rounds believed to have been with the suspect during the shooting.

Also recovered were shoes and a sling bag that the suspect was seen with in the footage.

Were’s driver and bodyguard were also arrested to aid in the probe.
