Vocal lawyer Miguna Miguna has raised eyebrows over the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) handling of the murder scene of the late Kasipul MP, Charles Ong’ondo Were.

“The DCI_Kenya’s complete ineptness is legendary. They entered the vehicle where Ong’ondo Were was shot, with potential suspects, and ransacked it before driving off. I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Miguna’s statement read in part.

According to Miguna, a vehicle involved in crimes like murder should be secured and examined by highly trained forensic teams, who should wear gloves and full forensic uniforms.

“The vehicle should have been towed away by a forensics team. Not driven away,” he stated.

He further claimed that Were’s driver and bodyguard should be considered suspects, as they were the only ones unharmed in the deadly shooting.

“Were’s driver and bodyguard should be treated as suspects and investigated. Or maybe the whole exercise was intended to contaminate the crime scene and vehicle so that the assassins can’t be arrested,” he claimed.

Did DCI visit exact spot where Ong’ondo Were was killed?

Detectives from the DCI intensified their probe into the murder of the Kasipul Member of Parliament.

According to police reports, the ODM legislator was fatally shot at approximately 7:30 p.m. near the City Mortuary roundabout on Ngong Road.

On Thursday, May 1, a DCI investigative unit, led by Martin Nyaguto, visited the scene of the shooting as part of their ongoing inquiry.

The unit was joined by the driver and bodyguard, both of whom survived the attack. In a video obtained by TUKO.co.ke, the two survivors were seen recounting the events to the detectives, while the officers documented their accounts.

Initial reports indicated that the lawmaker was seated in the front passenger seat of his official vehicle, en route from Parliament.

He was accompanied by his driver and bodyguard, neither of whom were aware of the imminent danger. Police stated that the attackers fired six shots at the MP, suggesting he was the primary target.

Authorities also described the killing as a targeted, precise attack, likely carried out by someone with military or intelligence expertise.

Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo informed the media that the MP had left Parliament shortly before 7 p.m. and was shot around half an hour later.
