Social media users react to Bungoma murder incident

Social media users expressed outrage, questioning how a life could be lost over such a small amount. Some raised concerns about the growing violence in the Mt Elgon region, referencing previous fatal incidents.

Mor Wafula:

“Why kill someone over KSh 200? So now will the deceased pay him? Wakamatwe maramoja.”

Braevin Bkip:

“Where are the human rights and activists now? BBC, come here.”

Felix Kiplagat:

“They beat someone to death over a sufuria? Couldn’t all those uncles afford to pay KSh 200? Life is more valuable than 200 shillings.”

Mutinda Muthembwa:

“This is what is called a ‘dying declaration’. It should help find the culprits liable for murder.”

Kimutai Hosea:

“Life is already hard for men — adding such injustice is just inhumane.”

Munuya David:

“Which neighbours? The same ones who attacked him? Now they claim the deceased named all his attackers before dying. This world is cruel.”

Kinjoo Eliazz:

“Is it the harsh economic times? This is heartbreaking.”

Raymond Cheror:

“So, carrying sufurias on your head can actually lead to death — let’s be careful, people of Kapkonyoo, before things get worse.”

Bramwel Masai:

“My deepest condolences. That act should be condemned completely.”

Darius Chem:

“Oh God! Where has humanity gone?”

Franco Junior:

“This is not right. The perpetrator must face the full force of the law.”

Benson Chesebe:

“This is why you’re told to let elders finish their work of uprooting those two trees — one in Toroso, another in Endebess — only then will the mountain settle and blessings return. But you don’t want to listen. This is why Sabaot people are killing each other.”

Emmanuel Juma:

“May God help the people of Elgon. It’s constant beatings and killings everywhere.”

Andavwa Lornah:

“Something is seriously wrong in Mt Elgon. Just recently, a father beat his daughter to death — and now another case?”

Mark Arsenal Simiyu:

“With all this going on, are there really no voices defending the vulnerable in Mt Elgon? Remember 2027.”
