From her hospital bed, Joyce Ong’ombe, Georgina Aluoch’s mother, has been compelled to witness the burial of her cherished daughter, the last living member of her nuclear family.
A close friend and churchgoer revealed that Joyce was not healthy enough, to attend the burial service or the requiem mass in Migori County.
The Form Three Alliance Girls High School student and her mother perished on Tuesday, January 14, after a catastrophic boiler explosion in Daini.
Those who loved the girl attended the requiem mass at Lavington Church, and gave passionate tribute after heartfelt tribute.
In a video conversation with the mourners, Joyce stated, “I want to take this opportunity just to say thank you to everyone; thank you from the beginning up to now.”
I want to thank the church for embracing me, for keeping me safe, for keeping me warm,” she said. “I want to thank the Alliance Girls High School for all that you have done,” she added.
She claimed to have lost the rest of her family when Georgina was just seven months old. Thus, she taught the youngster that since she is the child of a single mother, she should act appropriately.
