BREAKING NEWS: 11 UDA MCAs From Uasin Gishu Lose Their Seats After High Court Ruling Today

A  total of eleven Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have lost their seats  following a Court ruling issued on Friday, September 1.

As confirmed by NTV Kenya media, the MCAs from  Uasin Gishu County Assembly have been sent packing after the High Court upheld an earlier ruling that revoked their nomination.

Reports indicate that the leaders had been nominated under President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Dennis Mikoyan, the Chief Magistrate who nullified the election of the MCAs said his decision was based on the fact that the ruling party and the electoral commission relied on a list that has been declared null and void by the political parties’ tribunal when settling on them.

On that regard, the eleven wards that have been affected will have to undertake a by-election to elect new leaders. It’s now unlikely that the same leaders whose election has been revoked will be on the ballot again.

Further directions regarding the by-elections will be issued later by the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
