MP Sabina Chege to retain her position as Deputy Minority Whip
Chaos and drama characterized the National Assembly sittings Thursday, as Azimio MPs opposed Speaker Moses Wetangula’s decision to retain nominated MP Sabina Chege as Deputy Minority Whip. According to the speaker his hands are tied since the court had pronounced itself on the matter and barred Parliament from de-whipping Sabina. 7 MPs allied to the Azimio Coalition were kicked out of the chambers and remained suspended for the next two weeks following the chaos.
Raila Final Objection
Azimio leader Raila Odinga now wants the government to cut down on its expenditure, instead of passing the tax burden to Kenyans saying Kenyans are overtaxed. The opposition leader has called on Members of Parliament allied to the Azimio La Umoja Coalition, to shoot down the Finance Bill 2023, saying if passed as it is, he and his supporters will mobilize street protests again.
