He is omnipresent in the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s list of most trusted aides. For almost 15 years, Maurice Ogeta has been with the Azimio la Umoja coalition leader.
During public functions, the no-nonsense Ogeta is often seen walking side by side with the former Prime Minister. Sometimes, he walks directly behind the ODM chief.
In areas where security is a big concern, the lanky Ogeta often stands in high alert while ensuring that Raila’s security is guaranteed and that there is no compromise.
In terms of security training, little or nothing is known about this man who is a key Raila insider. The period of time he has worked for the former Premier confirms his stature around one of the greatest politicians in the history of Kenya.
Whereas others have come and gone, Ogeta has decided to stand with Raila through thick and thin. He has seen the ODM chief go from one election heartbreak to another.
Had Raila won the State House race by defeating the now President William Ruto, Ogeta would surely have settled a central place in Raila’s security arrangement.
