He is one of the senior most military commanders in the country today. As the man at the helm of the Kenya Navy, Major General Jimson Mutai is one man to watch.

With the looming exit of General Robert Kariuki Kibochi as the Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, the attention will be on President William Ruto who will be expected to be pick the new KDF boss.

At the same time, there will be promotions both in all the three wings of KDF. And Major General Jimson Mutai could be one of the biggest beneficiaries.

It is worth to note that in KDF today, Kenya Army has a full General and three 3-star generals in Lieutenant Generals Peter Njiru Mbogo, Jonah Mwangi and Albert Kiprop Kendagor.

On the other hand, Kenya Air Force has two Lieutenant Generals in vice CDF Francis Ogolla and Mohamed Abdalla Badi.

Should someone from the Kenya Air Force ascend to the top of KDF hierarchy, there is a likelihood that someone from the Kenya Navy will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. And the likely candidate for this promotion is Major General Mutai who is the senior most member of navy.
