Despite her recent fashion gaffe, Frida Mwaka is still one of Kenya’s most fashionable news anchors. Her outfits ooze class, elegance, and every other adjective you can think of. Mwaka’s professional development has served as an inspiration to those who aspire to be like her.
Career
The rise to prominence of the news anchor was the result of hard work and consistency, both of which most of us lack. Lofty Matambo, a KTN employee at the time, was introduced to her by a friend with whom she shared a house in Mombasa at the time.
Frida took advantage of her new celebrity friend, bombarding him with her videos. Lofty Matambo, the gracious man, would guide her through the necessary changes.
Fidel Odinga catapulted her to new heights. Frida claims that her co-anchor informed her of Fidel’s death and urged her to do an item about it the next day and share it. She went to work, and her efforts resulted in a spot on Season 2 of KTN’s the Presenter. The Swahili news anchor previously worked for the now-defunct Kumbamba radio station.
resigns from KTN to work for NTV
Frida left KTN after three years of service on March 21. Frida joined NTV with her mentor Lofty, with whom she is paired.
Marriage
The news anchor’s husband is architect Samuel Nguma Ndhuli. The couple married on November 30, 2019, at Mnarani Club in Kilifi County. This comes after a traditional engagement ceremony in Kibwezi, Makueni County, on August 10.
The news anchor stated on Radio Maisha that she has not and will not use her husband’s name because she has become a brand.
The couple went to the same Kilifi primary school and lived in the same neighborhood. For the next 13 years, the two would only meet on rare occasions and exchange pleasantries.
Fashion
Her fashion sense was among the best until recently, when she appeared on live television looking less than professional. The internet was flooded with amusing memes and comments on a fashion-dominated social media banter.
