Veteran broadcaster Catherine Kasavuli memorial service is being held at Friends International Church in Nairobi.
While giving his tribute, the only son to Kasavulj, Martin Kasavuli thanked president William Ruto for walking with them during his difficult time in his life.
Ruto waived Kasavuli’s medical arrears at Kenyatta National Hospital that accrued during her treatment for cancer.
Days after she passed away, Kasavuli’s family held a fundraising drive to offset her medical bills which was attended by Ruto.
According to Martin, Ruto strictly followed the program from the beginning to the end.
He went ahead to reveal that while seated near Ruto, the head of state could ask him questions concerning the program which sometimes became difficult for him to respond despite being the one who prepared the program.
He further disclosed that her mother had one wish to President Ruto and his government before her demise.
Kasavuli is said to have requested the president to put more energy in providing medical attention to cancer patients in the country especially when it comes to treatment.
Kasavuli will be buried in Saturday at rural home in Western region.
