IEBC Announces The Number Of Registered Voters In Rift Valley And Mt Kenya Regions

An independent electoral and boundary commission (IEBC) has announced the number of registered voters by region less than two months before the next general elections, which will be held in March 2019.

The Rift Valley and Mt Kenya areas have the most votes, according to the IEBC. 5.34 million voters in the Rift Valley region and 3.1 million in the Mount Kenya region, which excludes Nakuru and Upper Eastern.

The Nyanza area, home to Raila Odinga, has the third-highest number of voters, with a total of 3.1 votes. With 2.41 votes, it is followed by the Western area (2.2 million), the Coastal region (1.9 million), the Lower Eastern (1.6 million), the Upper Eastern (1.6 million), and North Eastern (626,261 votes) in the following order:

The overall number of votes cast in Mt Kenya’s five counties is 5.77 million, making the mountain one of the most sought-after regions for presidential hopefuls.

Rift Valley counties that are Ruto’s back yard have 2.2 million votes, whereas those in Western Kenya have 2.61 million votes combined.
