Paul Pogba
Liverpool recently announced the €100 Million transfer move for Benfica’s Darwin Nunez who will take Sadio Mane’s berth at the club once he leaves for Bayern Munich. Liverpool were quick to snap up the sensational striker a few days after Sadio Mane announced his desire to leave the Reds, a deal which would only be unrivaled by Liverpool’s generosity to cash out as much money. The transfer fee has been met by mixed reactions from the fans and journalists alike, but one consistent theme is Klopp’s hypocrisy.
Five years ago when Manchester United forked out that much money on Paul Pogba, the German tactician was quick to criticize the policies regulating such audacious transfer fees. He further said that such a deal degraded the value of some players and that it should boldly be shunned. Apparently he is now a victim of his own judgement.
Phil Jones
French side Bordeaux have effectively been relegated to the Ligue 2 after the French club violated FIFA Rules regarding their financial account. Sources have revealed that that the club is near bankruptcy and the only way it can get back on its feet is by selling more than half of its shares on TV rights. The club owners have been going from bank to bank asking for loans but their pre existing ones don’t say much about their policy of repaying them.
Phil Jones is remembered to have tuned down three bids from the French club in January, a move which was heavily criticised by fans who accused him of being driven by money. The 28 year old apparently made the right choice of denying to join the club since had he joined the club, his future would be imbalanced at the moment.
Eric Bailly
Eric Bailly and his agent are exploring ways of joining the La Liga once again. The Ivorian has been included in the transfer list of Real Sociedad and RCD Espanyol but none has taken the bold step of inquiring his availability from Manchester United. Although it is clear that Bailly is in the transfer market, it would mean a lot if either the Spanish clubs inquired about him since it will show that they are serious about signing him.
