President Museveni’s Wife Dragged Into Johnson Sakaja’s Degree Drama, Petitioners Demands her Input

Nairobi Senator and Governor Aspirant Johnson Sakaja’s degree validity drama has reached Uganda’s Ministry of Education.

A Kenyan lobby has written to President Yoweri Museveni’s wife Janet Museveni seeking her clarification on the validity of Sakaja’s degree that he allegedly attained at Team University.

Ms. Janet, who is the minister of Education, is expected to shed light on whether Sakaja graduated with an undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Management degree from the Ugandan University in 2016.

In the letter, the petitioners want Ms. Janet to compel Team University to produce Sakaja’s admission letter, details of payment of school fees, evidence that he attended classes and why his name was omitted on October 21, 2016 graduation list.

Further, the petitioners stated that Sakaja had only traveled to Uganda once in 2014 for parliamentary duties and not studies.

They also stated that the degree awarded to Sakaja is not honorary but just an academic degree after successful completion of some coursework.

Apart from Team University, Sakaja I’d said to have attended the University of Nairobi to pursue a degree in Actuarial Science but it’s not clear whether he completed it.

Sakaja in his defense of why his name was allegedly missing from the graduation booklet, claimed that those alleging he never studied at Team University planked out the page that contained his name.

Sakaja is facing a petition presented by one Dennis Wahome who filed a case with Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission dispute resolution Committee wanting his nomination to run for Nairobi gubernatorial race through UDA party ticket revoked over lack of degree as required by law.

The petitioners demanded Ms. Janet to treat the request as an urgent matter and shed light in order to save the image of Uganda’s education sector.
