The church with Nigerian roots is located on Likoni Road, off Mombasa Road, behind the Parkside Towers. It’s an auditorium with 20,000 seats and is considered the largest church in East and Central Africa. The headquarters of the ministry is in Canaan, Lagos.
The church auditorium was opened in 2013 and its founder, Nigerian billionaire pastor Dr David Oyedepo, was present at the official opening the new auditorium.
The just newly elected deputy President William Ruto was present during the inauguration of the church together with his wife Mama Rachel Ruto. Other big names in the showbiz sector were present too.
The church is currently believed to have opened five branches in the country in Kitale, Mombasa, Machakos, Kitengela and South B.
However, it should be noted that Winners’ Chapel Nairobi cannot be compared to that in Lagos, Nigeria. It is called the “Tabernacle of Faith” and has a capacity of 50,400 seats and an outdoor flooding capacity of 250,000.
The Nigerian church occupies 70 acres, but the entire church complex is a 10,500 acres piece of land. The church was listed in the Guinness Book of Records in 2008 as the largest church auditorium in the world.
