Have ever you seen someone with a ‘Tiny Hole’ above their ears? This is what it means

Preauricular pit is a small hole or cyst just in front of your ear above your ear canal. This hole marks a sinus tract under the skin that’s in the wrong place. These tracts can vary in size. Some people have a short tract while others have a longer one with lots of branches.

A preauricular pit is a common birth irregularity first reported in 1864. Healthcare professionals tend to notice these pits during routine examinations of newborns.

These pits may occur on one or both ears, and there may be more than one pit present. However, it is more common for there to be a pit in only one ear.

Usually these sinuses are found on one side of the face, but 50% of people have them on both the ears.

According to Business Insider, one revolutionary biologist Neil Shubin says this hole can be an evolutionary remnant of fish gills. This implies that, humans might have evolved from ‘fishes’!
