Lead Convenor of Arise Ghana, Bernard Mornah, has said that the group will continue its protest at the United States Embassy in Accra for at least two weeks.

According to him, this is as part of efforts to demand the return of former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta to Ghana.

Speaking to GhanaWeb on January 20, 2026, he said that the group initially sought permission from the police to stage an indefinite picket but later agreed to a temporary arrangement.

He explained, “For now, our request to the police was for an indefinite picketing, but we reached a compromise that we’ll do two weeks from today picketing daily here.”

Mornah warned that if the former finance minister is not returned to Ghana after the two-week period, the group will escalate the protest by occupying the premises of the embassy.

He continued, “Thereafter, if Ken is not still brought, then we can do overnight stay over, and that means that we’ll bring our mattresses, we’ll bring our pillows, we’ll bring our cooking utensils, and stay at the premises of the United States Embassy until such a time they find a need to bring Ken Ofori-Atta to Ghana.”

The Arise Ghana leader said the planned actions are aimed at sustaining public pressure and drawing international attention to their demand for accountability over alleged financial improprieties involving the former finance minister.

The group has been calling for Ofori-Atta to return home to respond to investigations being conducted by various state institutions into financial transactions approved during his tenure as finance minister.
