“It’s Not Opposition” Kalonzo Denies Camp is Against Lamu’s 2.2Trillion Project, Gives Clarification

Opposition leader Kalonzo Musyoka has forcefully dismissed accusations that opposition political faction has opposed major foreign investments in Kenya, including the Sh2.2 trillion Dangote East Africa Petroleum Refinery project in Lamu.

Issuing a formal clarification, the Wiper Patriotic Front party leader has affirmed that his team has consistently supported transformative national development projects.

Musyoka has clarified that while the opposition has warmly welcomed massive private investments into the economy, its leadership has persistently demanded strict adherence to due process and Constitutional accountability.

He has stressed that public oversight must prevent deals designed to enrich isolated, politically connected individuals at the expense of ordinary citizens.

Furthermore, he has emphasized that the multi-billion-dollar LAPSSET corridor project originally originated as a primary flagship project under Vision 2030 during his tenure alongside former President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The opposition chief has reiterated that the coalition’s foundational commitment to developing Lamu Port into a global trade hub has remained unchanged over the years.

However, he has insisted that state officials must ensure the facility directly serves public interests rather than benefiting a select group of government-backed figures.

His clarification has arrived amid ongoing political debates and legal questions regarding land allocation, environmental clearances, and operational transparency along the coast.

While executive officials and international investors have officially launched ground operations in Mokowe, Musyoka’s remarks have drawn a clear boundary between destructive opposition and Constitutional vigilance.

By asserting ownership over the original Vision 2030 framework, the Wiper leader has positioned his camp as guardians of public interest, ensuring that multi-trillion-shilling developments deliver tangible, equitable economic benefits to all Kenyans.
