Emirates Airlines urged to promote Ghana’s attractions on board

By Hafsa Obeng

Accra, Jan. 16, GNA – Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has urged Emirates Airlines to actively promote Ghana as a preferred tourism destination by showcasing the country’s cultural and natural attractions on-board its flights.

She said visuals and short features on Ghana’s tourism offerings, particularly during take-off and landing, could stimulate international visitor interest and boost tourist arrivals in the country.

Madam Gomashie made the call when the new Country Manager of Emirates Airlines, Mr Salem Almana, paid a courtesy visit to her in Accra on Friday to strengthen relations and explore opportunities for deeper collaboration between the airline and the Ministry.

She described Emirates Airlines as a valued partner and a true friend of Ghana, commending the airline for its consistency, professionalism and high standards of service delivery over the years.

The airline’s strong global reputation and extensive international network positioned it as a strategic stakeholder in advancing Ghana’s tourism development agenda, she noted, praising it for setting a benchmark in customer service excellence.

The Minister said improved service delivery remained a key priority for Ghana’s tourism and the hospitality sector, expressing optimism that increased interaction between Ghanaians and Emirates Airlines would facilitate the transfer of best practices in customer service.

Mr Almana, on his part, emphasised the importance of collaboration with the Ministry, noting that Emirates was keen on working closely with government to enhance the travel experience, promote Ghana internationally and support sustained growth in tourist arrivals.

He reaffirmed the airline’s readiness to engage constructively with the Ministry to improve services and deepen its contribution to Ghana’s tourism sector.

The engagement also provided an opportunity for open dialogue on broader aviation and tourism-related matters, underscoring the shared commitment of both parties to transparency, partnership and long-term impact.

Mr Almana expressed optimism about future engagements aimed at strengthening Ghana’s tourism profile locally and internationally.
