I Will Give Kshs.1 Million to Anyone Who Will Show Me 1KM of Road in Githunguri-Gathoni Wa Muchomba

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wa Muchomba has challenged the Kiambu County Government to account for road projects reportedly carried out in her constituency since 2022, putting the spotlight on transparency and the management of public funds.

In a strongly worded statement, Muchomba offered Ksh1 million to anyone who can provide evidence of at least one kilometre of tarmac or cabro road constructed by the county government in Githunguri Constituency between 2022 and now.

“I’m willing to give Ksh1 million to anyone who will show me with evidence, a kilometer of Tarmack road or Cabro done by Kiambu County Government in Githunguri constituency from year 2022 to date,” she said.

The MP also questioned the amount of money allocated to road construction and maintenance, calling on residents to seek clarification on how county funds have been utilised.

“The County has received over 200 Billion for roads construction for four years, where is the money?” Muchomba asked.

However, the Ksh200 billion figure remains an allegation contained in her statement and would need to be independently verified using Kiambu County budget allocations, expenditure reports and other official financial records.

Muchomba went on to criticise the county administration, accusing it of focusing on public-relations activities and making misleading claims about development. She directed her criticism at the county leadership before ending her statement emphatically with the words, “Niko hapa.”

Her comments are expected to generate debate among Githunguri residents, particularly those concerned about the state of roads and the implementation of development projects within the constituency.

Road infrastructure is a major concern for local communities, as better roads improve transportation, facilitate access to markets, support the movement of farm produce and enhance connectivity between residential areas and commercial centres.
