Chief Joseph Ezeokafor, a businessman in Anambra State, who was abducted alongside a Reverend Sister by unidentified gunmen in Ifite-Awka, Anambra State, has been released and has safely returned home to his loved ones.

After spending several days in captivity, the two victims were confirmed to have regained their freedom in the early hours of Saturday.

The Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, verified their release on Saturday in a statement, adding that necessary steps had been put in place to investigate the circumstances surrounding their abduction and release.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, while commending the victims’ safe return, ordered security operatives to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for their abduction.

The command added that the operation would involve the police and other security agencies.
