The deceased

A GOLD dealer identified as Nana Appiah has been found dead in a bush at Obuasi-Kokoteasua in the Ashanti Region, five days after he reportedly went missing.

The deceased, said to be a well-known gold dealer in the area, was last seen on August 5, 2026, according to family sources.

His disappearance triggered a search by relatives and some residents in the Kokoteasua area, which continued until his body was discovered in a bush on Monday morning.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown, with the police yet to determine what might have led to his death.

Personnel from the Obuasi Divisional Police Command have conveyed the body to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy as investigations continue.

An eyewitness, Samuel Akwasi Mensah, told the DAILY GUIDE that Nana Appiah was a familiar face among gold dealers and traders in the area.

He said the deceased’s sudden disappearance had caused concern among traders and residents, particularly because of the security challenges associated with mining and gold trading in the area.

Obuasi and its surrounding communities host a large number of miners and gold dealers, making security a major concern for people engaged in the business.

The police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist in establishing the circumstances surrounding Nana Appiah’s death to come forward and support the investigation.
