Motorists plying the long bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway were thrown into panic, on Wednesday, following reports that a man suspected to be mentally unstable had taken to hurling stones at moving vehicles.

A report monitored on Lagos Traffic Radio, said the actions of the deranged man has caused at least one accident and widespread disruption of traffic along the busy corridor.

Another report said the man, whose identity remains unknown stationed on the bridge for an unspecified period before commuters began raising the alarm over the unprovoked attacks on passing vehicles.

A report that could not be immediately ascertained said the stones thrown by the man struck several vehicles, with one incident resulting in a driver losing control

The development has sparked fear among road users, as they are calling on the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to bring the situation under control before it degenerated further.
