GCB Bank PLC has been appointed to play a leading role in Ghana’s preparations for some of the world’s major international trade and investment exhibitions, in a move that highlights growing confidence in the bank’s expertise in trade facilitation and international business development.
The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry has named the bank to the National Planning Committee and several technical sub-committees overseeing Ghana’s participation in the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2026.
Under the arrangement, GCB Bank will chair the Budget and Fundraising Committee, co-chair the Marketing and Publicity Committee, and serve on the Business and Investment Committee.
The ministry cited the bank’s strong track record in Ghana-China trade facilitation, exporter development, stakeholder engagement and support for previous national trade initiatives as reasons for the appointment.
In a related development, the bank has nominated Ms Aurelia Baaba Ofori Odame, Head of its State-Owned Enterprises and Afro-Asia Banking Department, to represent it on the National Planning Committee for Ghana’s participation in the China International Import Expo 2026, the Specialised World Expo 2027 in Belgrade, Serbia, and the Green X Expo 2027 in Yokohama, Japan.
The appointments place the bank at the centre of Ghana’s efforts to showcase investment opportunities, strengthen bilateral trade partnerships and open up new export markets through global exhibitions that attract governments, businesses and investors.
Commenting on the development, Ms Odame said the appointments reflected the bank’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s international trade ambitions.
