In South Africa, Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was named coach of the month for August, while AmaZulu striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya was recognised as player of the month. TimesLIVE reports.
Start of title defence
Ouaddou led the reigning Betway Premiership champions to three wins and one draw in August. Orlando Pirates began their title defence without a defeat.
The 23-year-old Zimbabwean forward Ngwenya scored five goals in four matches for AmaZulu. He leads the scoring charts, while the Durban team sits fourth in the standings.

Goal of the month
In the race for player of the month, Ngwenya finished ahead of Victor Letsoalo of TS Galaxy and Orlando Pirates defender Lebone Seema. The goal of the month award went to Mamelodi Sundowns striker Brian Leon for a volley against AmaZulu, a match his team won 3-2 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
Tebogo Mokoena, Leon’s Sundowns teammate, was also in contention for his free kick in the same match, as was Vincent Pule for his goal for Siwelele against TS Galaxy.
