Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, Onasis Kobby Rosely Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, Onasis Kobby Rosely

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Operations and Technical at the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), Onasis Kobby Rosely, has called for calm and patience among the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress, noting that the party’s steadfast commitment to rewarding loyal members means their turn will soon come.

According to Onasis Kobby, the NDC has a history and tradition of rewarding those who remain loyal to it. In due course, he said, the party will recognise the efforts and sacrifices of people who have yet to be given roles in the current government.

Speaking at a party event last weekend, Onasis Kobby urged aggrieved party members not to down tools for the party and encouraged them to remain faithful and loyal.

Citing his own example and that of President John Mahama, Onasis Kobby reminded the party faithful that his appointment as Deputy CEO of PHDC did not happen overnight. He recounted that he had served the party in various capacities for more than sixteen years before receiving the breakthrough appointment.

He also referred to President Mahama, who had to leapfrog several well-known NDC figures long primed for the presidency before receiving the same recognition.

He reasoned that the political ladder does not follow any conventional path; loyalty and dedication are always rewarded.

The energy expert further argued that as long as the NDC remains in government, opportunities will continue to open for all its members.

“If President Mahama has honoured me today, it did not start yesterday. It took me a long time to get to where I am today. In politics, there is no conventional pathway to the top. You cannot say that because you have been serving since the era of Kwame Nkrumah, you deserve to be President.

“There are people whose presidential ambitions preceded President Mahama’s, but he had to show them mercy and appoint them to ministerial positions. I want you to be patient, because the longer the NDC stays in power, the better your chances of serving in government,” he said.

Onasis Kobby’s admonition comes amid concerns from some party members who believe they have been sidelined and denied recognition following the party’s victory in the 2024 elections.

There have been rumours of rifts and unhappiness within certain branches of the NDC over the lack of jobs. Onasis Kobby is urging them to be patient as the government works to create opportunities for all.
