The Scorpion Kings are bringing more than music to their upcoming FNB Stadium takeover, with Amapiano now making its way onto the RocoMamas menu.
The Amapiano duo of DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small have teamed up with RocoMamas for a limited-edition food collaboration, giving fans a taste of the Scorpion Kings ahead of their major live show on 19 September.
Called the King’s Feast, the collaboration launched at participating RocoMamas restaurants nationwide on 1 September and combines familiar South African flavours with the restaurant’s bold take on burgers, chicken, ribs and wings.
Amapiano meets the menu
The collaboration features three specially created dishes, each drawing inspiration from the Scorpion Kings.
The Madumane Double, inspired by DJ Maphorisa, is a 200g double beef smash burger topped with chakalaka, chorizo and cheese and served on a brioche bun.
For Kabza De Small, there is the Papta Sting, which pairs southern fried chicken with jalapeños and atchar on a brioche bun.
Then there is the Scorpion Kings Pan, designed for sharing. It combines ribs, chicken strips and wings with chakalaka, coleslaw and two signature dipping sauces, including a spicy peri sauce.
Rather than simply putting the artists’ names on existing dishes, the menu leans into flavours that are already familiar to South African diners.
That is what makes the partnership interesting from a cultural perspective. Amapiano has grown from a music movement into a wider expression of South African youth culture, influencing the way people engage with fashion, lifestyle and entertainment.
Now, the genre is also becoming part of the food conversation.
