Honor Magic V6 hits Kenya at KES 312,999 through importers

Honor launched the Magic V6 in China on 13 March 2026 and started the global rollout on 4 June in Malaysia and Singapore. Germany got it on 1 July. The newest market is the Philippines, where Honor opened pre-orders on 24 August 2026 at PHP 119,999. Kenya is not on that list. The Official Honor Store Kenya site lists no foldable at all, and its range stops at the Honor 400 at KES 56,500.

The phone is still on sale here though. Nairobi importer Avechi lists the 16GB and 1TB model in stock at KES 312,999, with a stylus in the box and a one-year warranty.

Honor is the phone brand Huawei sold off in November 2020, and it now runs as a separate company. It is growing fast on this continent. Honor took 7% of Africa’s smartphone market in the first quarter of 2026 and grew 101% year on year, the quickest of any large brand in the region, as we covered in May using Omdia’s figures.

What the phone is

The Honor Magic V6 is a book-style foldable. Opened, it has a 7.95-inch screen at 2352 x 2172 pixels. Closed, there is a 6.52-inch cover screen at 1080 x 2420. Both run at 1 to 120Hz. Honor quotes 5,000 nits peak brightness inside and 6,000 nits outside.

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, built on 3nm
  • 12GB or 16GB of RAM, 256GB to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage
  • 50MP main camera, 64MP periscope telephoto, 50MP ultra-wide, 20MP selfie camera on each screen
  • 4K video at 30 and 60 frames per second
  • 8.75mm thick folded, 4.0mm unfolded, 219g
  • IP68 and IP69 water and dust ratings
  • Android 16 with MagicOS 10, and stylus support

The Magic V6 has a 6,660mAh silicon-carbon cell, 80W wired charging and 66W wireless charging. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, which launched on 22 July 2026, has a 4,800mAh battery and 45W charging. That is a gap of nearly 2,000mAh in a phone of roughly the same size.

Honor says the hinge of the Magic V6 uses steel which reaches 2,800MPa, stronger than a car’s A-pillar – the company claims.

What it costs elsewhere

In China the Magic V6 sells from CNY 8,999 for 12GB and 256GB to CNY 11,999 for 16GB and 1TB. Malaysia got it at RM 7,699. In Europe the list price is EUR 2,299.99 and the UK price is GBP 1,999.99, though Honor opened German sales on 1 July at EUR 1,699.90 with a free Honor Pad 10 and 24 months of screen protection. The Philippines price is PHP 119,999.

Three things before you buy locally

First, ask which region’s phone you are buying. Honor quotes 6,660mAh globally. there’s also listings of 7,150mAh for the 1TB version. The 1TB unit on sale in Nairobi is therefore likely a China-market device, which matters because of the software on it.

Second, the update promise. Honor confirmed on 10 June 2026 that the Magic series gets seven years of OS and security updates in the EU and the UK. That’s not a commitment to 7 years in Kenya. And we’re not sure if grey imports get the full set of updates.

Third, repairs. Avechi’s listing says one year of warranty. An inner foldable screen is the expensive part to replace, and there is no Honor service commitment attached to the phone here the way Samsung sells Care+ with its foldables.

Honor’s launch release named the Middle East and Africa as part of the rollout. Nearly three months on, the phone is in China, Malaysia, Singapore, Europe and the Philippines, and Kenya buys it through importers. Until that changes, buying one in Nairobi means paying more than a European buyer paid in July for a phone with a shorter update guarantee and a non-committal one-year local warranty.
