Hon. Mahama Ayariga is a lawyer and politician of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who has represented the Bawku Central Constituency in Parliament for several terms.
Born on May 12, 1974, in Bawku in the Upper East Region, Mr Ayariga studied law at the University of Ghana before obtaining an LL.M from Harvard Law School.
Over the years, he has held several public positions, including Minister for Information and Minister for Youth and Sports under the administrations of former President John Dramani Mahama and the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
Before President John Dramani Mahama’s recent ministerial reshuffle, Mr Ayariga served as Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business in Parliament.
He has since been nominated as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

Who is Millicent Yeboah-Amankwa?
Hon. Millicent Yeboah-Amankwa is the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West Constituency in the Bono Region.
She entered Parliament after winning the Sunyani West seat in the 2024 general election and currently serves alongside her husband, Mahama Ayariga, in Ghana’s Ninth Parliament.
Millicent Yeboah-Amankwa was born on July 22, 1992, and is 34 years old.
Her marriage to Mahama Ayariga became publicly known during Mr Ayariga’s vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on August 27, 2026.
During the proceedings, Mr Ayariga noted that the committee chairman had introduced his father-in-law but had not introduced his wife, who was subsequently identified as Mrs Ayariga.
The revelation generated interest because the couple are both serving as elected Members of Parliament in the Ninth Parliament, representing constituencies in different regions.

Millicent Yeboah-Amankwa represents the Sunyani West Constituency in the Bono Region.

The disclosure came as part of a light moment during the proceedings, when Mr Ayariga referred to the committee chairman’s introduction of his father-in-law and pointed out that his wife had not been introduced.
She was subsequently identified as Hon. Mrs Ayariga.
