Sefwi-Boako (W/N), May 31, GNA – Residents of Sefwi-Boako, a farming community in the Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region, have appealed to the Government and the Ministry of Education to complete a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) project that has been abandoned in the community for some time.
Some residents, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), expressed concern about the neglect of the facility despite the progress made on the project.
They said the completion of the project would enhance technical and vocational skills training for the youth and create employment opportunities in the area.
Mr Yaw Nkuah, a resident, urged the Member of Parliament for Wiawso and the Wiawso Municipal Assembly to collaborate to ensure the project’s completion.
He said this would prevent young people in the area from travelling long distances to access technical and vocational education and training.
A visit to the project site by GNA revealed that the building, which is at various stages of completion, had been overtaken by weeds, with no sign of the contractor on site.
When contacted, Mr Nkrumah Augustine, Assembly Member for the Boako North Electoral Area, said technical and vocational education remained crucial to socio-economic development.
He expressed hope that the Government would ensure the completion of the project.
Mr Augustine added that he had raised the issue during a Municipal Assembly meeting and was given firm assurances that work on the project would be completed.
He therefore called on the Assembly to honour its commitment regarding the Boako TVET project.
The project is located between Boako and Anyinabrim along the Wiawso stretch.
