Accra, May 27, GNA – The Pan-African Leadership Institute has called on African governments, traditional authorities, and citizens to strengthen continental unity and social cohesion in the face of emerging political, economic, and social challenges.

Dr Kofi Osei-Kusi, President of PALI, in a statement in Accra on the African Union Day, said the future of the  continent depended on collective action, inclusive development, and sustained Pan-African cooperation.

He said while Africa continued to make progress towards integration and development, current tensions and structural challenges must not be allowed to weaken the foundations of African unity.

“Africa’s strength lies in unity. At moments like these, we must rise above division and confront both the immediate tensions and the deeper structural challenges that threaten our collective progress,” Dr Osei-Kusi said.

He urged governments across the continent to work closely with traditional leaders and community stakeholders to address the root causes of conflicts and instability while protecting the lives of citizens and foreign nationals.

PALI appealed to Africans both on the continent and in the diaspora to remain committed to the ideals of Pan-Africanism, noting that unity remained essential for Africa’s advancement on the global stage.

He said challenges confronting the continent should serve as opportunities to strengthen systems that are inclusive, equitable, and reflective of Africa’s shared values and aspirations.

Dr Osei-Kusi highlighted the African philosophy of Ubuntu (we are because you are), noting that Africa’s progress depended on cooperation, mutual understanding, and collective responsibility.

“The spirit of Ubuntu reminds us that our humanity is interconnected. The path forward lies not in division, but in cooperation, understanding, and purposeful action,” he added.

PALI reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transformative leadership and initiatives that foster unity, peace, and sustainable development across Africa.

He noted that as Africa continued its rise in global affairs, maintaining unity and solidarity would remain critical to achieving long-term prosperity and stability across the continent.
