TV3 launches GMB@20: …With GH¢200,000 cash prize, a new crown

Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB), TV3’s flagship cultural beauty pageant, has launched activities for its 20th anniversary, with a GH¢200,000 grand cash prize, a car, an educational scholarship, a trip abroad and a fully-funded community legacy project for one selected community.

The launch, held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Accra, unveiled a series of activities aimed at celebrating the programme’s impact on Ghanaian society.

Since its inception, GMB has grown into one of the country’s leading cultural platforms, promoting Ghanaian heritage, regional identity, youth leadership and social development through pageantry.

At the launch, the General Manager of 3Group, under Media General Ghana, Mrs Akofa Banson, announced the prize packages. She added that the winner would also receive gold jewellery and a newly designed crown.

According to Mrs Banson, the legacy project will be selected through a community-driven nomination process coordinated by 3Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of 3Group.

Mrs Banson said that the first and second runners-up will each receive educational scholarships. The first runner-up will also receive an 85-inch television set, while the second runner-up will get a laptop.

She noted that the 20th anniversary edition of GMB would be one of the most ambitious and impactful editions in the history of the programme.

“This year’s celebration will feature major national events, cultural showcases and tourism-driven initiatives designed to celebrate Ghana’s rich diversity,” she stated.

Activities

As part of the anniversary activities, organisers unveiled a lineup of events expected to take place throughout the year.

The General Manager mentioned them to include a GMB@20 special documentary, a multi-region production aimed at promoting the country’s tourism destinations, cultural heritage and local experiences to local audiences and beyond.

Another, she said, will be a Royal Impact Charity Ball scheduled for June 6, 2026, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, expected to bring together corporate leaders, development partners, traditional authorities and other stakeholders for fundraising and networking.

“The anniversary celebrations will also feature the GMB Carnival on October 4 at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

The celebrations will climax with the Community Project Handover on November 28, where completed projects undertaken by GMB contestants and alumni will officially be presented to beneficiary communities,” she added.

Mrs Banson said the introduction of a legacy community project was to deepen the programme’s social impact.

She explained that communities, traditional authorities, queenmothers, opinion leaders and development-focused organisations are invited to submit project proposals for consideration through This email address is being protected from spambots.
