‘Women Have Always Been Demanding’ – Singer Omawumi Insists Love Is Transactional

Nigerian singer, Omawumi Boma Megbele-Yussuf, popularly known as Omawumi, has claimed that love has always been transactional.

Naija News reports that Omawumi made this remark during an interview with Pulse, while sharing her opinion on the widespread claim that modern romantic relationships are transactional.

The ‘Bottom Belle’ crooner explained that the transactional nature of love has become more demanding than during her youthful days.

According to Omawumi, impressing a woman does not cost much, citing the use of ice cream and popcorn, but nowadays it is expensive due to modernisation and inflation.

The music star, however, said society sometimes amplifies the transactional nature of relationships by ignoring women’s reciprocation, adding that most men who complain about the transactional nature of relationships put themselves in the position by dating women with higher tastes.

She said, “Love has always been transactional. Women have always been demanding since the beginning of time. But during my youth, our transaction was different because you can impress your crush with just ice cream and popcorn. But now, it is iPhone.”

Meanwhile, Omawumi recently opened up about her relationships with the late rapper, Dagrin and late producer, Dokta Frabz.

Speaking in an interview with Jay On Air, Omawumi stated that she had a cordial relationship with Dagrin and they often hung out when he was alive.

She clarified that her relationship with the late rapper was platonic.

Recall that there were rumours that Omawumi and Dagrin were dating after the release of their collaborative hit ‘Thank God’ in 2009.

The singer, however, admitted that she dated the late producer Dokta Frabz.
