The Institute of Community Sustainability (ICS) has announced the temporary suspension of its nationwide sensitisation tour against cruelty toward dogs and cats, following a violent incident involving its Executive Director, Eric Jerry Aidoo.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the organisation said Mr Aidoo, popularly known as Chairman Jerry, was nearly lynched while carrying out activities related to the campaign.

It described the incident as distressing, noting that the decision to suspend the tour was necessary to ensure the safety of its team and to review its security protocols.

Despite the setback, the organisation emphasised that the campaign has not been cancelled.

“The tour is not cancelled. We have only put our activities on hold,” the statement said, adding that the institute remains committed to its mission of protecting animals and promoting humane treatment.

Mr Aidoo reaffirmed this commitment, stating that intimidation would not deter their efforts.

He also highlighted the role of pets in society, describing dogs and cats as loyal companions that contribute to household security.

The ICS indicated that it plans to resume the tour soon, with scheduled engagements across the Volta, Northern, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions.

The organisation further called on the public to support its efforts by volunteering and participating in upcoming activities aimed at educating communities and reshaping attitudes toward the treatment and consumption of pets.

It encouraged interested individuals to visit its office or contact its official channels for more information on how to get involved.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

24/03/2026
Institute of Community Sustainability (ICS) Suspends Nationwide Anti-Cruelty Tour Following Violent Assault on Executive Director

The Institute of Community Sustainability (ICS) officially announces the temporary suspension of our nationwide sensitisation tour aimed at ending cruelty toward dogs and cats.
This difficult decision follows a distressing incident in which our Executive Director, Mr. Eric Jerry Aidoo (popularly known as Chairman Jerry) was nearly lynched while carrying out his duties.

While we are relieved that Chairman Jerry is safe, the severity of this targeted violence necessitates a pause to ensure the safety of our team and to reassess our security protocols.
Our Commitment Remains Unshaken
We want to state clearly that the tour is not cancelled. We have only put our activities on hold.

The ICS remains fiercely committed to our mission. We will return to the road very soon to continue fighting for our innocent dogs and cats that serve as loyal family members and vital security for households across the country.

“Cats and dogs are family, not food. We will not be silenced by intimidation when the lives of these innocent animals are at stake.” — Eric Jerry Aidoo

The ICS is calling on all compassionate citizens to stand with us. We are actively seeking volunteers and advocates to join our upcoming tours in the following regions:
Volta Region
Northern Region
Eastern Region
Greater Accra Region
Our goal is to educate the public and engage with communities to shift the perspective on the consumption and treatment of this innocent pet.

If you are interested in joining our movement or joining our tour, please visit our head office or contact our official line for more information and upcoming schedules.

Signed,
Eric Jerry Aidoo
Executive Director, Institute of Community Sustainability (ICS)
