The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has suspended its nationwide strike following government’s appeal for further engagement on members’ conditions of service.

The Association has directed its members to resume work on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Mr Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, announced the decision at a press conference in Accra, stating that the National Executive Committee (EXECO) acted after reviewing Government’s request for a 14‑day period to resolve the impasse.

“The National Executive Committee of CLOGSAG, on March 17, 2026, reviewed the appeal by Government to call off the nationwide strike action and allow Government fourteen days to come to an amicable resolution of the issues with the salary structure and conditions of service of members,” he said.

Mr Addo said EXECO had consequently suspended the strike and directed all members to return to work from Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

He urged members nationwide to comply fully with the directive while leadership engaged Government to secure a favourable outcome.

Prior to the suspension, the Association had insisted the strike would continue, citing delays in addressing its concerns.

The National Labour Commission had earlier intervened and invited both parties for negotiations, but the impasse persisted.

Government subsequently appealed to the Association to suspend the strike to allow for further dialogue to resolve the dispute.

Mr Addo expressed optimism that the engagement would lead to a mutually acceptable resolution and reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to protecting members’ welfare.

He said CLOGSAG would monitor the outcome of the discussions within the 14‑day period and take further decisions where necessary.

The suspension is expected to restore normal operations across the civil and local government service while negotiations continue.
