Wizkid Under Fire For Missing Zlatan, L.A.X Weddings

Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has come under fire from music fans for missing the weddings of fellow artistes Zlatan Ibile and L.A.X, with many questioning his relationship with the duo.

Some fans had expected the award-winning singer to attend the weddings, especially that of L.A.X, who was once signed to his record label and is regarded by many as a close associate.

The criticism began after Zlatan’s traditional wedding, which attracted several top musicians, including Davido, who was among the groom’s men. However, Wizkid was conspicuously absent, leaving some fans disappointed.

While some questioned his decision to miss the occasion, Wizkid’s supporters quickly came to his defence.

According to them, the singer is not known for attending public events, particularly weddings that are not exclusive. They argued that Wizkid’s presence at such gatherings could easily take attention away from the couple, as many guests would be more interested in seeing the superstar than celebrating the bride and groom.

Some fans also described Wizkid as a celebrity who is almost impossible to find at public events, with a few joking that he is like a spirit who hardly sees himself.

His supporters believe his rare public appearances have become part of his identity, making him one of the most exclusive celebrities in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

However, the debate became more intense following the wedding of L.A.X, whose real name is Damilola Abdul Rasak Afolabi.

The singer, who is the son of a billionaire, held an exclusive wedding ceremony in Lagos on November 1, 2026. The event attracted some of Nigeria’s most influential personalities, including former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, the Ooni of Ife, Emir Lamido Sanusi, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, senators and top oil moguls.

Many expected Wizkid to attend, especially after L.A.X publicly appealed to him not to miss the Lagos ceremony.

Wizkid had earlier congratulated the singer on his marriage in a post on X, writing, “Big up to real love! LAX and his Queen.”

Responding to the post, L.A.X, through his X account, @izzlax, wrote, “Egbon mi no miss Lagos own lol.”

Despite the friendly exchange, Wizkid was not spotted at the wedding, prompting another round of criticism from fans.

An X user, @Ridwan286_, wrote, “I love Wizkid but to be honest he doesn’t do well this time for not showing up for L.A.X despite the online begging that guy made.”

Similarly, @KGM_Global said Wizkid should have attended the wedding, noting that L.A.X was once his close associate. The user also recalled that Wizkid missed Banky W’s, Zlatan’s and Davido’s weddings, adding that fame and success should not make anyone forget the importance of celebrating people who were once part of their journey.

Another X user, @Heyitsbeth12, suggested that Wizkid might have a fear of crowds, writing, “At this point I think it’s safe to say Wizkid is phonophobic or enochlophobic cause noway he would miss all 3 weddings of his first ever signee and best friend (L.A.X).”

Meanwhile, Wizkid’s fans remain unmoved by the criticism. They insist that the singer has always been private, pointing out that he hardly posts himself, even on his birthday.

Some also argued that he may simply not be a party person, while others maintained that Wizkid does not give anyone more than they deserve, a principle they believe has shaped his approach to relationships.
