FG’s ₦50K Relief: 4 Simple Steps MTN Users Can Follow to Access ₦50,000

According to a report by The Vanguard on Friday, November 6, 2026, if you use an MTN line and have been wondering whether you made the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 relief list, your phone may already hold the answer.

Nigerians selected for the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) and assigned to MoMo Payment Service Bank (PSB) can check their status through a USSD code, with no internet connection required.

The programme is meant to help vulnerable households cope with rising living costs. How to check and collect the money:

1. Dial *671*0# on your registered phone number and follow the prompts to see your eligibility or payment status.

2. Look out for an official SMS from MoMo asking for your consent, then follow the instructions to accept the support.

3. If you don’t have a MoMo wallet, dial *671# or download the official MoMo NG app to open one.

4. Once the money is credited, withdraw it through the MoMo app, the USSD service or an authorised MoMo agent, or transfer it to your bank account.

MoMo PSB is just one of the approved payment providers. The others are ALAT by Wema Bank, NairaGram, OPay and Moniepoint, and beneficiaries are contacted through whichever one they are assigned to.

In an October 30 statement announcing the start of the programme, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, said eligible beneficiaries would receive ₦50,000 monthly.

He stressed that the consent SMS is genuine, and that once consent is given, payment goes straight to the beneficiary’s account or mobile wallet.

He also made clear that nobody needs to apply, pay a fee or go through an agent. The ministry again cautioned Nigerians against handing over their PIN or Bank Verification Number (BVN) to unauthorised persons.

According to the NERSI portal, beneficiaries are being contacted in batches. However, anyone whose status shows “NOT SELECTED” should know that the government has not promised that everyone left out now will be included later.
