After marathon of competition, eight clubs will now battle for a place in the last four of the most prestigious competition sponsored by telecommunication network MTN.
The knockout tournament begins this very weekend with last season’s champions Asante Kotoko SC and last two seasons winners Nsoatreman FC.
Kotoko are already eliminated after losing to Aduana FC 4-2 on penalties at home whiles Nsoatreman FC is defunct. Meanwhile, 2022/23 champions Dreams FC has made it to the quarter finals.
However, the door is thrown wide open for a new champion, with remaining contenders eager to impress and make a case for the title. They plot to seize the moment when the quarter-final matches kick off across the country.
With Dreams FC coming up against premier side Kpando Hearts of Lions and Nations FC taking on another top-tier side Berekum Chelsea FC, there will be an intriguing fixtures between giant-killers Attram De Visser and Premier League powerhouse Medeama SC.
The Division One League side sent shockwaves through the competition with a stunning 4-0 demolition of Eleven Wonders in the round of 16 and will be brimming with confidence heading into the tie.
Medeama SC on the other hand, remain a formidable opponent. The two-time FA Cup winners edged past FC Samartex 1996 via a tense penalty shoot-out and will rely on that to avoid becoming the next big scalp.
Aduana FC, who are still riding high after eliminating Asante Kotoko on shoot outs at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium will be bent on cruising to the last four.
The Dormaa-based side will face lower-division outfit Techiman Liberty Youth, who announced their presence in the competition with a convincing victory over Real Tamale United.
While Aduana will start as favourites, Liberty Youth have already demonstrated that they are capable of upsetting established sides.
Elsewhere, Nations FC will lock horns with Berekum Chelsea in what promises to be one of the most evenly matched encounters of the round.
Nations FC booked their quarter-final place after edging Swedru All Blacks 2-1, while Berekum Chelsea secured their ticket with a narrow win over Tamale City FC. With both sides boasting disciplined setups and attacking threats, the contest could go down to the wire.
Heart of Lions will come up against Dreams FC who advanced with enigmatic victory over Inter Allies FC.
The quarter finals and road to the final narrowing, it promises intense battles, tactical duels and shocks.
Meanwhile, the competitions department has confirmed the Cape Sports stadium and Bechem Nana Fosu Gyeaobour park as the two venues to host the quarter finals.
