Bawumia, officials of Central Bank of Japan discuss monetary policy, central bank digital currency and payment systems

The institutions included the Central Bank of Japan, where they discussed monetary policy, the central bank digital currency (CBDC) and payment systems.

They also met Japan’s Digital Agency (the equivalent of Ghana.Gov); Chiba University to discuss vaccine research and manufacturing; the Ministry of Lands, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to discuss flood control and river management; Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security, and UNIDO Japan to discuss industrial policy in Japan and other countries; ⁠Chairman of the Research Committee on International Affairs and Member of the House of Councilors, National Diet of Japan (Parliament).

Dr Bawumia said that the meetings were insightful and fruitful. He thanked all of his hosts for their hospitality, participation and valuable insights.

Prior to these engagements, Dr Bawumia visited 3R, a cutting-edge environmental technology company leading the way in sustainable innovation.

He said 3R has developed advanced, game-changing technology capable of recycling water and cleaning contaminated soil by completely removing harmful heavy metals, including mercury.

"Seeing this innovation firsthand was truly inspiring, especially as we look for sustainable, long-term solutions to restore our lands and waterbodies impacted by Galamsey," he said.
