NDC Regional Elections: We are going fully digital this time – Rashid Tanko

byMavis FanteviNovember 6, 20260 The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is adopting a fully digital system for its upcoming regional elections to ensure proper management of delegates’ lists and prevent disputes over the selection of constituency representatives.

The party’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT, Rashid Sofo Tanko Computer, said preparations for the elections were at an advanced stage, with the exercise scheduled to take place on November 13 and 14.

Speaking on the arrangements, he said the party would begin with its Youth and Women’s elections on November 13, followed by the general regional elections on November 14.

He disclosed that the party was currently onboarding five co-opted members from each constituency as part of efforts to complete the delegates’ list.

However, he acknowledged that some constituencies were facing challenges with the process, particularly disagreements among members over the selection of their five representatives.

According to him, the affected constituencies had been temporarily set aside where members could not reach a consensus.

He explained that the decision was necessary because the party had adopted a fully digital approach to the electoral process and wanted to prevent individuals from independently compiling delegates’ lists, which could create disputes.

“We are going fully digital this time. We don’t want a situation where somebody will sit in his or her room and compile the delegates list to create problems,” he said.

He added that the party had issued a statement outlining the constituencies facing challenges with the onboarding process.

Mr Sofo Tanko Computer further explained that the digital platform would give regional directors of elections direct access to onboard the co-opted members.

On the preparation of election materials, he said the printing of ballot papers was almost complete, while national teams had already been constituted.

He said the teams would be deployed across the country during the week to oversee preparations and ensure successful regional elections in all 16 regions.

The NDC is expected to conclude the onboarding process and other logistical arrangements ahead of the November 13 and 14 elections.
